Parliament Session Live Updates, June 27: Chair in Rajya Sabha Jagdeep Dhankar says that he has received 22 notices to discuss situation arising out of irregularities and cheating in NEET 2024 conducted by NTA.

Parliament Session, Lok Sabha Session Day 5 Live Updates: In a seemingly action-packed day in both the Houses today, Congress MPs of the Opposition-led INDIA bloc moved adjournment motions on the issue of alleged paper leaks and irregularities in NEET exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).  Speaker Om Birla adjourned the Lower House till 12 pm after reiterating that “the government will answer” all questions regarding the matter raised during the discussion on the President’s address. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was seen pushing for the debate on the matter because it concerns the students and the youth of the country. Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha Chair and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar doesn’t allow the motion in the Upper House.

The leaders of the INDIA bloc took this decision at their meeting held at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence on Thursday. In the same meeting, they also decided to hold a protest on Monday morning (July 1) before the parliamentary proceedings start, to rake up the issue of alleged “political vendetta” against the Opposition leaders, including Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, and three West Bengal ministers, through agencies like the CBI, Enforcement Directorate and the I-T department, sources said.

While the 17th Lok Sabha (2019-2024) did not have a Deputy Speaker, sources have revealed that the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is open to the idea of having a deputy speaker in the Lok Sabha. Sources said the NDA has not rejected the opposition’s claim on the post but criticized its insistence that its nominee should be given the position. There is speculation that the post could go to an ally in the ruling alliance. However, Telugu Desam Party, BJP’s biggest ally, has said it has no interest in the role.
